Portfolio: TrendVision Award Ivonne Martens

In this series, We will take you along a shoot we did, talking about the concept we had for the shoot and the final results. Wondering what we shot for the TrendVision Awards?

Something I wanted to do for a while, Is sharing my work from previous shoots. As I really like to keep my portfolio up to date, some images got taken down on our website. So to keep them in memory, I really enjoy sharing them here with their story.

2020

What are the NTVA?

NTVA stands for National TrendVision Awards. Every hair brand has their own competitions, which coiffure award from Schwartzkopf is one of the biggest around. But around that some brands like Wella which is organising the TrendVision Awards is one of.

Why did Ivonne book me for TrendVision?

In 2020, I had my own column in Top Hair where I gave hairdressers the chance to work with me to create some stunning imagery for Top Hair Benelux, which is a magazine for hairdressers. So that is when Ivonne and I met. We created multiple images before, and then she contacted me that she wanted to hire me to shoot images for Trendvision.

What are the rules of participating for TrendVision?

The hair should look natural and match the skin tone, eye colour and style of the model. The photography, hair, make-up and styling all need to be in harmony to create a stunning image. These are the rules that come back in every category you can participate for.

Things that are an absolutely no go are too extreme, doesn’t follow the latest fashion trends, the colours are not complimenting the model. And the overall look is not in harmony.

  • Use a neutral background
  • Focus on the hair
  • Make sure that the pose is complimenting the hair
  • You need to deliver a before and after image.

Concept

Ivonne let her inspire by the following to create these stunning colours in Lian’s hair:
Japanese Spring The colour of blossoms in special spectacular gardens becomes visible news due to the spring sun. I have been inspired by these shades for the colour and cut of this look.

Because of the colours in her hair, I thought a neutral background would let more focus to the hair colour. The styling items were quite basic, but sometime quite heavy around her neck. Because of that, I wanted to keep the lighting fresh and clean.

The results you can admire under the post.
