In the summer of 2020, going to the hairdressers was still something that wasn’t aloud. So some hairdressers took that time to be more creative. Froukje and I setted up this shoot, and we asked if Top Hair was interested in publishing these.
Something I wanted to do for a while, Is sharing my work from previous shoots. As I really like to keep my portfolio up to date, some images got taken down on our website. So to keep them in memory, I really enjoy sharing them here with their story.
2020
The Concept
Our goal for the day was to focus on creating a lot of different hairstyles. Luckily, the model that we’re working with was super easy with her posing, which made the results versatile but still staying the same. Our focus was mainly the hair. So we keep the styling simple but with layers approaching the autumn.
Top Hair
We did this shoot for Top Hair, This is a magazine for hairdressers. They focus on new techniques, but also on which hairdressers there are currently active. In 2021, we had a monthly column in their magazine. But as you can see, this shoot had taken place in 2020, so we already did some occasional shoots for them. So we had contact with a lot of hairdressers to showcase themselves in the Top Hair for the upcoming month. This was one of the shoots that we did for them in September.
The Model
Doete does a lot of shoots, and is really used to deliver a variety of different poses. As a photographer, it’s super nice if the model has a lot of variation in her posing. I always have a Pinterest board with poses on my phone and iPad. But if you don’t need those, shoots will usably flow better. But also prepping poses upfront will help with having more variation in your shoot.
