Portfolio: Top Hair for Blur Hairstudio

Since I started with hair photography back in 2018, I got super excited by shooting hair. Something that I can’t do regularly is shoot with coloured models, because only for the coiffure awards models are wanting to have their hair coloured. In this post, we take you along our shoot for Top Hair.

Something I wanted to do for a while, Is sharing my work from previous shoots. As I really like to keep my portfolio up to date, some images got taken down on our website. So to keep them in memory, I really enjoy sharing them here with their story.

Concept

So for this shoot, preparation was key. So, Kirstin Alacari already came up with a colour scene for the models, and also took care of the styling for this shoot. The concept we went for was natural colourful colours (if this make sense) we wanted the hair colour to be there but not too intense.

How did we prep for this shoot?

Finding models for creative hair shoots is always a hassle, but thankfully Kirsten had some contacts because she always participates in the Coiffure Awards. So she contacted these models if they would be up for this concept, and luckily they were. Because Kirsten really wanted to use hair colouring that didn’t faint right away, it was important to paint them the night before the shoot, so the colour looks the nicest. So that was what she did. The night before our shoot she made the models ready for the shoot and the next day we met at 11:00 to shoot the models in our studio.

Top Hair Benelux

We did this shoot for Top Hair, This is a magazine for hairdressers. They focus on new techniques, but also on which hairdressers there are currently active. In 2021, we had a monthly column in their magazine. So we had contact with a lot of hairdressers to showcase themselves in the Top Hair for the upcoming month. This was one of the shoots that we did for them in November.
